Headquartered in Sacramento, California, the Alliance for Leadership and Education (A.L.E.) is a 501(c) 3 corporation governed by a seven member Board of Directors. ALE was established in 1984.
Since that time, ALE has successfully obtained more than $4.5 million in philanthropic support and donations in support of its purpose. Today, ALE is leading transformative efforts in response to the coronavirus pandemic to re-imagine adult day services as "Centers Without Walls," building upon the knowledge gained through its ground-breaking Community Based-Health Home project and the more than 40 years of building deep community expertise through its provider community.

Lydia Missaelides has enjoyed a 35 year career in public policy and program development in aging, mental health, and disabilities. Lydia earned her Master’s degree in Health Administration from the University of Southern California and undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of California Davis.
After serving 30 years as Executive Director for the California Association for Adult Day Services, concurrently with serving as the Executive Director of the Alliance for Leadership and Education since 2003, Lydia retired from CAADS to devote her time to ALE, the public benefit and research arm of CAADS. Lydia proudly served as a member of Governor Newsom’s Long Term Services and Supports Subcommittee for a Master Plan for Aging from January 2019 through June 2020. She has continuously served as a charter member of the California Health and Human Service Agency’s "Olmstead Advisory Committee" since being appointed in 1965. Lydia was reappointed in March 2021 to the newly renamed and formed “Disability and Aging Community Living Advisory Committee” to better reflect and communicate the vision and purpose of the Olmstead Committee. She was also a founding member and original Secretary of the Board for the California Aging and Disability Alliance, a non-profit seeking to create a broad- based public long term services and supports insurance program for the middle class. Lydia also served on the Steering Committee for the California Collaborative for Long Term Services and Supports and is a Member of the Integrated Service Delivery Workgroup. Under her leadership, the ALE has raised more than $4.6 million in philanthropic funding and donations over the past decade to support the mission of advancing innovations such as the Community Based Health Home model, best practices and development of quality ADS programs. |
